A Shorter Lag Would Be Nice

I've noticed there is a lag for updating the user rep and badges on Area51 from other Stack Exchange communities which can have a lag of several hours.

I'm guessing the stats are updated periodically?

Are there any plans to have them update in realtime or with a shorter lag?

You can go to area51.stackexchange.com/reputation and click the "Trigger Reputation Recalc" button at the bottom to update it manually, I believe. (While that button was removed on other sites, it's still available on Area 51.) Commented Aug 28, 2018 at 3:05
  • Looks like it's been removed from Area51 also. Maybe due to too many server requests?

No, it works for me still Commented Aug 28, 2018 at 3:12
  • Maybe for newer profiles it's removed? When I visit the link you provided, I just get raw metadata. However, I see the below code in the source, so maybe just by visiting that page, it updates? My profile did update, but not sure if that was because I visited the link or it was just time for it to update anyway? Code in source: </pre><form method="post" action="/reputation?recalc=true"><input type="hidden" name="fkey" value="65429d00e49d20880a63f7dde2c5ede5"><input type="submit" value="Trigger Reputation Recalc"></form></body></html>

Hmm...it looks like they're hiding the button for you. The 'type="hidden"' doesn't show for me. I tried disabling my user scripts and it still shows for me the same way. I guess older accounts are grandfathered in. Commented Aug 28, 2018 at 3:19

Found the reason why it's disabled. One of my community accounts is suspended for votes being cast on my questions from the same IP or something. I edited the HTML to show the recalc button and submitted, which was maybe not a good idea, because now my rep from the suspended account has been deducted. Oh well!

  • Thanks. Yeah, I did notice some funny stuff with the recalc!

Reputation is Recalculated Every 24 Hours

To partly answer my own question. It seems like the reputation is updated once every 24 hours. So, although you can manually update your reputation, this can only be done once a day.
