Our goal to make the Stack Exchange Network a great place to produce high-quality Q&A sites, no matter what language they speak. But we are still predominantly an English-speaking organization and we need to understand the underlying premise of these sites.
We allow the creation of non-English sites, but we have a few requirements.
Non-English Proposal Requirements
- The proposal title and description must be in English. It is okay to include a translation into the native language.
- The sample questions and comments can be in your own language.
- Any related Area 51 discussions have to be conducted in English (or translated before posted).
- If the site is created, any posts on the meta site must be in English (or translated before posted).
I know this is not ideal; It's all a bit of a compromise in lieu of saying "Sorry you cannot create proposals for non-English sites until we have a proper localization interface."
