It seems to me that editing and improving existing questions&answers — is the easiest way to gain your first 200 reputation points on stackoverflow or any other stackexchange site.
What would be and equivalent for area51?

First and foremost, please remember that reputation is not important on Area 51. Yes, you get a couple extra privileges with reputation, but all the important privileges are unlocked by 150 rep.
All you need to get to 150 reputation is to confirm your email address and gain the association bonus (which, by the way, you already have). All you need to do now is confirm your email address.
Other than that, there are a few other ways to gain reputation:
Upvotes on your example questions: 5 reputation
Follows and commits on your proposals: 5 reputation
Referring a user to a proposal: 5 reputation
Fulfilling a commitment: 50 reputation
A user fulfilling their commitment on your proposal: 25 reputation

@user1271772 when you visit a proposal page, there should be a button called "Share This" below the "Follow" or "Commit" button. Clicking that will give you a link that you can share with people who might be interested in the proposal. If they follow/commit to the proposal by the link from Share This, that's considered referring them to the proposal. Commented Aug 22, 2019 at 21:44

A person's Rep on Area 51 has no real meaning or value.
The only way to gain rep is by posting good example questions on Proposals.
