Proposal: Astronomy

I've asked the question about navigating using moon on The Great Outdoors: https://outdoors.stackexchange.com/questions/4576/learning-to-find-north-using-moon-phases. It seems it would be a bit hard getting correct answers there. Would similar questions be on-topic on astronomy?

Those are about practical uses of astronomy, but it's astronomy anyway.

Similar, would questions about the celestial navigation methods used in past be on topic?

When I read the question title, I was going to redirect you to our Space Exploration site!

However, practical astronomy questions do seem to be ontopic. Questions on naked-eye observations should be as topical as telescopic observations, of which there are several examples. Many sites include a to cover cases of questions of past practices within a topic. So the question, should be fine, if well researched first.
