Proposal: Vi and vim

The previous proposal was one of the fastest to complete definition and commitment (at least, some of that proposal's discussions said so). Yet this one seems to be moving at a snail's pace, in comparison. What can we do to speed this up? Can we attract back any of the users who followed the original and didn't follow this one? Can we obtain high-quality sample questions from the original to post here?

  • Many proposals took months or years to get to the commitment stage... I think this isn't moving that slow, really. Certainly not "t a snail's pace"...

No, I don't think so. The restarting of a proposal is precisely designed to assess current interest in the topic of the proposal. (Why the proposal had to be restarted is a different question, though. I asked at one question about vim on one of the sites where vim questions were ruled to be on-topic without a single answer after several weeks.)

In any case, with the previous enthusiasm, I'm sure we're going to make it into beta phase, unless the Stack Exchange team decides to kill the proposal a second time.

I think a lot of people found the original proposal via vim subreddit. You can try posting there: reddit.com/r/vim.
