There seemed to be some concern that it would actually launch, and that SE (company) did not want a Pastafarianism site to be part of the SE Community.

There were some proposals by SE on site proposals that could encompass the body of questions, that would be more SE appropriate. But no one followed through on any of the suggested site proposals. The related chat was also deleted.
