Why wouldn't this just be part of the existing physics Stack Exchange site?

Just a note: After Astro.SE was merged into Physics, we included Astronomy into our scope (astrophysics already was there). So this proposal is a proper subset of Physics.SE.

As I've said here, the current scope is too broad. History, Culture, and Government/politics are very different topics, and will probably create a site with disjoint communities.

Biology.SE already handles biochemistry pretty well.. Biochemistry $\neq$ chemistry IMO, so any moderately difficult biochem questions will get more attention on bio.SE
