Proposal: Space Exploration

Would questions about building Earth observation satellites and other space issues specific near home be on topic? How about the van Allen belts, the South Atlantic Anomaly, space environments?

As one of the specific questions is the South Atlantic Anomaly, and there are several that refer to the ISS, single stage to orbit, debris from recent impacts, and other earth orbiting satellites, I'd say that earth observing satellites certainly would be on topic. In fact, in the original charter of topics to include here, even model rockets were at least loosely considered on topic. Sub orbital would also be on topic, etc.

Yes, anything up and above the Ionosphere (and the grounded observation stations for controlling them) would be considered on-topic IMO.
