I committed to this proposal in its early days and I've done my best to help it advance, so I was very happy when we reached the commitment phase. However, this happened over a month ago and so far we have managed to get only 38% of the needed committers.

I read similar discussions elsewhere in the site and I found some interesting answers, for example this one or this other one. They all seem to stress the need for high-reputation committers, and surely most of the people who have confirmed their interest in the proposal are active on mroe than one site and have interesting reputation levels.

In my opinion, the point here is that a somewhat relevant percentage of those who initially supported the proposal, maybe even asking questions, have not confirmed their commitment now. I suppose we all received an email when commitment phase was reached, so I guess that their non participation is a choice. So, here comes the issue: should we try to attract other people, by linking the proposal to our profiles for example, or should we try and contact (not the way I did it before, however) those who supported the proposal in the first place? I'm taking it for granted that the percentage of high-reputation users over the whole of them is already correct.

And if I'm worrying too much about the slow progression pace, please let me know. Thanks!!!

Proposal: Italian Language & Usage

  • Paola, you could promote our proposal on this new proposal (A Q&A site for Italian emigrants: migrating Facebook questions) with comment like this. Feb 4, 2013 at 13:46

Well sharing it in your profile helps, certainly. Perhaps writing to them would be considered as spammy, unless you see them in a chat room and you ask casually about it, that'd be fine. Systematically writing emails would be too much, most likely.

But you can do something else: I made an ad for this proposal to be posted on EL&U, but it needs to reach +6 to be posted. So, if you vote it we can advertise on EL&U. It might not solve all of our problems, but it would help a bit. So vote it up! :P

I also linked the proposal from other sites, like language/penpal sites I'm in, and you could do that too. Or share it on social network sites like FB, G+, Twitter, etc.

Thanks for the ideas, I'll look for your ad on EL&U and upvote it. I know that spreading the news on social networks normally does the job, but I'm not in any of them ...

  • @Paola Anywhere is fine as long as you think there can be people interested in it. :) Social networks were just an idea.

  • I've been trying to locate the ad which you wrote and which needs to be upvoted, but I have no clue as to where it is. Can you help?

Voted up! :) I've also put the ad on my blog. It probably won't help but I REALLY want to get this one started! Mar 17, 2013 at 5:07

I'm Italian and I'm a new user of the site (since yesterday). I thought it was interesting to commit to this Italian language spreading project, so here I am. I'm sorry but since I'm new I have no reputation to bring to the cause. Anyway, I really hope this works out. I seem to understand that the project needs a 10% score to go to beta. Thank you all, I hope to be useful!

You surely are, as you are one more person who has committed. The progress is very slow, but there is some progress, so let's hope it won't take too long... Thank you for having joined, and most of all thank you if you can spread the word and get more people to join.

  • Totally appreciated! I'm really excited for this site to hit beta, this is the SE site I've been waiting for. I'm thrilled that one more person has decided to be a part of it! Mar 22, 2013 at 2:02

Thanks a lot to you all. I'm a new user of Stack Exchange, how can we invite new people to this project? Mar 22, 2013 at 13:08
• If you go to: area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/42949/italian-language-usage Underneath the "uncommit" button, there is a link that says "share this", when you click "share this" a bunch of sharing options will pop-up. Mar 22, 2013 at 20:28
  • Done, perfect. Let's hope someone else joins. Mar 23, 2013 at 12:10
