Proposal: Stack Overflow (in Portuguese)

Somebody knows how long will it takes so that those "special characters tag" are created? Wouldn't it be simpler if it was released just as it is, and those tags become a new feature in the future ???

We will provide some sort of "State of Localization" update in the upcoming weeks. We are in the process of evaluating our current priorities and schedule.

But one thing I can report is that we will not create entirely-non-English site until the interface can be localized in their native language. Launching a successful site is hard enough as it is without handicapping an entire community with an English-only interface the majority of users will not understand.

So, are all predefined UI texts being templated to allow for full UI localization, not only for this proposal but other languages as well? Commented Feb 6, 2013 at 3:18
  • Localization is being built into the core engine. It's not specific to this proposal only. area51.stackexchange.com/?tab=progress Commented Feb 6, 2013 at 14:10
  • That's what I meant, thanks. I believe each language would have its own template (instead of localized sites customizing specific UI text), as to keep the same "feel" through SE branches that use the same language. Well never mind that, that's up to the core guys. Commented Feb 6, 2013 at 15:32

Did you guys consider launching the site with the current engine, but keeping it in private beta until the new features are available?

@bfavaretto No, restricting a site to a small group indefinitely would not create a healthy site. Commented Feb 19, 2013 at 16:31

Cartaino, what are you talking about? I'm waiting since one year now, and I'm ever more sure that you, as we say in our language, 'had take us from the back'. What to say if not that you should be suspended for making babble, no? Commented Nov 1, 2013 at 22:41
