Proposal: Digital Fabrication

There are lots of fabrication questions that apply to digital fabrication questions as well as non-digital fabrication.

As a self-taught owner of a CNC mill, I have had more questions that are general milling questions rather than computer control specific ones. It would be a boon to this community to include machinists and fabricators who have a vast amount of knowledge to contribute but may not be CNC machine operators. This guy is a good example.

I wouldn't have a problem with that. I've been thinking for a while that the scope may be too narrow to be viable. That's why I changed the description from fabrication with digital techniques to fabrication in the digital age.

What I would suggest is:

  1. Create 5 proposed questions which help to expand the scope of the proposal.
  2. Add an answer to What should we call this proposal? suggesting the new name.
  3. Add an answer to What description should this proposal have? suggesting ways to modify the description to expand the scope.
  4. Promote this proposal to people you know in the Fabrication community and get them to follow this proposal, vote on your proposed questions and vote on your proposed name and description.

The important thing is that we build a community which is strong and helps answer questions, not what the community is called.
