Proposal: Genealogy & Family History

I've found a few Committers to the Genealogy & Family History Proposal at Area 51 inadvertently did not sign up to Area 51 with their Stack Exchange login ... or did not in some way merge or link their user profiles.

As a result, they are not getting credit for their Stack Exchange reputation they earned.

If you have used any of the other Stack Exchange sites, please ensure your accounts are linked. Click on your user name at the top of the screen. Find the "network-profile" link and click on that. Then click on the "accounts" link. You should see all the other accounts on Stack Exchange network that you've logged in to.

If you don't see all the accounts, you may have a different user id for them. Please try to link your accounts together and merge your accounts. But these links might help:

How to do so is not clearcut to me, since I'm all linked and it seems to happen automatically when I sign in to a new Area 51 site.

And finally, ensure that in your final linked account, when you go back to the Genealogy Q&A proposal, that you're still "Committed" to the proposal. If not, please do so.

  • I'm seeing a different problem. Folks who are new to both Area 51 and StackExchange say they've used my commitment referral link, but they are not showing up as committers. I suspect the issue is relates to entering a commit before having a registered account. I haven't figured out a way to test what might be happening. Any ideas on how I could test that? – GeneJ Sep 21 '12 at 11:34
  • @GeneJ = That's a tough one since none of us (after we've committed) can test it. Search the discussion area here and at Meta Stack Overflow to see if anything is said about referrals that might explain better how they work. – lkessler Sep 21 '12 at 13:08
