Proposal: Personal Manufacturing

It's important to note, being that this topic attracts a lot of people who may be unfamiliar with the StackExchange network, that the proposal is not for answering questions. It is for providing sample questions of the caliber we'd like to see. StackExchange on the whole seems to allow for "simpler" questions, but we'd like to launch with highly technical and informative questions.

Right now, everybody is encouraged to ask questions that they would like to see on the main site. You get 5. If you have 10 things you'd like to know, please pick the "hardest" 5. Try to touch on topics like firmware hacking, feedback positioning, materials properties, etc. We can easily carry the "belts vs. chains vs. screws" type questions once launched.

Additionally, if you like a question, please upvote it. Help us shape the questions into good ones for the site.

+1 It is a testament to the chosen Proposal topic that it's attracting interest from outside the StackExchange community. Good idea to try and orient new participants. – hardmath Jul 4 '12 at 1:42

Perhaps there ought to be a 'sample answers' section in addition to the comments? – Renoir Jul 4 '12 at 13:04

However, it is encouraging that even the sample questions are being answered - it adds weight to the argument that a site like this is needed and would be used. – Renoir Jul 4 '12 at 13:05
  • How's that? :-) – Bryan Boettcher Jul 5 '12 at 21:42
