If I wanted to email/tweet/blog/etc:

New, free, community-driven Q&A site for INSERT-TOPIC. Learn more here (bit.ly/TOPIC), or join here (bit.ly/JOIN)

Clearly, it' possible to link directly to the proposal, but is it possible to link directly to a page to join the proposal?

  • @vitalik: How so? My belief is that a random "expert" coming to join the proposal never having seen the site before would be confused on how to do so. Assuming that everyone knows how to use the site is misguided in my opinion. Beyond that, I've used Area 51 since I first found out about it over a year ago, have visited the site over 20-days during that time, and it took me 5-mins or more to figure out how to add a new proposal. The site is not easy to use, and the workflow does not enable users to easily see what options they have to help a proposal move forward in my opinion.

Area 51 has it's share of usability problems (and we are addressing them), but we are not going to provide a blind link to join a proposal that allows a users to click without seeing what the proposal is about. Too much potential for abuse.
