Proposal: Islam

The Islam proposal description/tagline is:

Proposed Q&A site for the Muslim community who have questions about Islam.

Is this meant to exclude people who are not Muslim?

The site description for Christianity is:

Beta Q&A site for committed Christians, experts in Christianity and those interested in learning more.

Which shows that people who are not Christians are welcome on the site.

The Judaism tagline was similar (but that site is out of beta so I cant quote it)

Shouldn't the Islam tagline be changed to show the site is not just for the Muslim community?

    Odd. The description explicitly welcomed non-muslims before, I wonder if there's a reason it was removed (other than sloppy wording).

  • I'd support a more inclusive tagline than the current one, this SE would felt too empty if it's a Muslim-exclusive SE. Is there any way to see historical revisions of proposed taglines? Should we gather tagline proposals on the answer section of this question?

I suggest the following (similar to Christianity):

Q&A site for Muslims, experts in Islam, and those interested in learning more about Islam.

    This description is fine. The site isn't literally just for Muslims, but described that way to set the proper tone for the site; that this site is about the belief-system, the people, and the practices and not a place for detractors to come in and challenge those beliefs. But nobody's checking credentials at the door, and non-Muslims are welcome in the context of learning about the subject. I originally removed the extra verbiage in preparation for the site's launch. It was very awkward and messy. The description above is fine.

I agree.

The current site description inplys that we are not accepting any answers or community participation from non-muslims. I'd say go with:

Proposed Q&A site for questions about the learnings, teachings, and practices of Islam.
