The contrast for the badge count is really low, the text color should really be the same color it is on the main site (which is also the same color as the Rep count in the image).

  • @Troyen that's the color it is on the main site (though they look slightly different as the badge count isn't bold)

  • @RobertCartaino - I feel sorry to push this back on you, but you were the one to update the status today. See my answer, but I believe that the menu here is probably not compliant with WCAG color contrast guidelines and its a super easy thing to fix. Jun 5, 2013 at 13:57
  • @iandotkelly Okay, thanks for the heads up. I'll poke Jin and see what he can do. Jun 5, 2013 at 14:12

This is marked as 'status completed' - but in my interpretation of WCAG the menu bar here is a disaster in terms of color contrast.

I think that all the grey text, especially the "Stackexchange" and reputation count, but also the marginally lighter badge counts seem to be failures on level AA of WCAG, never mind level AAA.

The situation is worse on the main site menu - where even the badge counts are in the darker color.

Is there any reason (other than some designer's opinion that it looks good) that the font color cannot be significantly lightened - perhaps to the colors in the links at the bottom of the page.

The site design does look good, but I have the benefit of having decent eyesight.
