I was poking around in Area51, and noticed that the Cognitive Science proposal was apparently in public beta.

However, when I clicked the "visit this site now" link, I got this:

Why is this happening? Why doesn't Area51 reflect what is actually happening with this site?

The site has publicly launched. I got the Beta badge for the site and I can access the site even when logged out.

There seems to be a timing issue with the login page; it still claims it's private. All other pages on the site act public.

    @Cleanupcareer-development I can view it fine logged out. Stack is supposed to be on UTC time to avoid timezone issues. Sounds like a bug... – Ben Brocka Jan 25 '12 at 22:55

There appears that there was an issue with timing on this launch - not all servers had received the message that this site was public. Please try logging in again and let me know if you find the same issue.

  • Yay, I can see the site now. After logging in it gave me the "Oops, something bad happened" message, but when I reloaded I actually had been logged in. – user25657 Jan 26 '12 at 1:02
