On the Biology proposal on Area 51 I noticed two recently committed users with exactly 151 reputation. This is a bit unusual, as when you have enough reputation to get the account association bonus you should have enough reputation to have your other accounts displayed on Area 51 and counted for your total reputation.

Those two users (one, two) have at least one account with more than 200 reputation, so they should appear with a higher reputation here and at least on site logo displayed.

Now, I remember the completion percentage of the proposal from yesterday and I'm pretty sure it didn't increase today, so these two users who should be counted as experienced SE users (with >200 reputation) didn't increase the committment score. So this might be not only a display bug, but it could affect the proposal score. Though it might just be that the committment score is only updated once a day and this is just caching.

  • These two users show proper total reputation in their user flairs now. I guess this is due to cache timing.

  • But now there is a new user ("Dimme") displayed with only 151 reputation though he has significantly more on SO. They have in common that the Area 51 accounts are all new, so it seems that the sync to Area 51 is not immediate. That explains why I didn't notice it for myself or most people, because it is not that obvious for users with older Area 51 accounts. Dec 8, 2011 at 8:48

True. My Area 51 account is new and my flair hasn't refreshed yet ;-)

@RobertCartaino Out of interest, how long does the caching take? There are several examples of this phenomenon in recent days as well. Also users that didn't have 200+ reputation on another site, subsequently reaching that point later in the commitment phase. If it's a 24-hour turnaround, that's fine, but it would be nice to have some official indication of how long it takes.

@RobertCartaino - We are having a problem like this on Genealogy & Family History. Have found two committed users whose accounts at least appear to be properly linked, but the rep isn't reporting in their flair. (I assume it's not counting in the proposal total.) What should I do?

  • @Adam Lear: Can you please remove the "status-norepro" tag? See my answer which contains the error reproduced. Jan 1, 2020 at 23:20

Now, the two users have the correct reputation (both >500), so I guess we can close this.

  • We can't close it until the problem is fixed. See my answer below about this being a problem in the Materials Modeling proposal. Jan 1, 2020 at 23:27
