Proposal: Hacking and Hackers

Would questions regarding security be allowed here / good to ask here? IE:

How can I protect against WPA2 handshake sniffing?

I see that you can break WEP encryption, but what can I do about it?

What constitutes a "strong" password?

I'd say no, unless the problem in question sounds interesting and fun enough for hackers to take on.

I.e.:

“How can I protect against WPA2 handshake sniffing” — off-topic

“I wrote this WPA2 handshake sniffing detector. Any ideas of how I can fight back / play a practical joke on the intruder when I detect one?” — on-topic

  • Fair enough, just thought it would be asked :)

  • I would say that protecting against a vaild security threat (that has not been prevented yet) would provide a good enough challenge for the hackers.

No - because this aspect is entirely covered in scope on security.stackexchange.com

  • There's nothing wrong with a bit of overlap, so long as the main topic of the site differs. Look at Movies & TV, Anime, Sci Fi & Fantasy. You can have a Sci Fi, Anime TV show that would be on topic across all three

  • It isn't overlap. It is entirely contained within sec.se
