There are already 3 users who contacted me with the following problem, described step by step:

  • log into Stackoverflow using an old (not new) existing acount

  • visited area51 site

  • click on log in -> failed:

    Unable to log in:
    No user found

Unable to log in: No user found

The alternative was to click on sign up instead and that worked.

Is this a known bug?
Is there any better alternative to succeed on this flow?

One has to sign up for each different SE site. Area 51 is a different SE site so needs one to sign up first. When signing up one needs to use the e-mail address used to sign up for their other SE accounts. Then one can log in to the Area 51 account. Make sense?

I had this problem for months, until I found the suggestion to use sign up instead of log in.

Now that I’m signed up, I still can’t verify my email. I click resend, get the email, click it, get logged in. Yet it still allows me to resend the verification and I don’t seem to get the 50 reputation for verified email.

I think the process is very confusing for new users, like me.
