Recently a new Proposal: Cardano was made and I wonder if there is actually enough demand to answer questions about it. When looking at stackoverflow there are 22 questions tagged with cardano. This does not look like there is sufficiently large community demand
There are many Cardano related questions on stack overflow that are not tagged with "Cardano". Other community specific terms include Plutus, Marlowe, Oroboros, Daedalus and others. When searching on stack-overflow for many of these terms there are many results that are unrelated to Cardano that need to be filtered out or skipped.
Having a separate site for Cardano will increase stackexchange's value to the Cardano community.
As of 20 March 2021, There are 276k members in Cardano subreddits 5k members in Cardano Developer subreddits, 5K plus members in the pool operators telegram channel, and 50k plus members in Cardano telegram channels. A substantial number of technical questions are raised in these channels and get answered. Being an open-source project with multifaced high-value applications the size of the community is large. Unfortunately non of these provide a self-evaluating format at oar with StackExchange in building up the community knowledge.
In addition to these Cardano is build on Haskell which needs the support of best-in-class developers. Therefore an exclusive site for Cardano is a current requirement.
I am involved in another blockchain project (Elrond) that is somehow similar with Cardano. So we talk about a similar complexity.
I can say that there are a lot of questions. They are not so obvious just because they use other communication channels (internal forums, reddit, telegram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.). Even from the development point of view, there are hundreds. But there are also many from users.
And I really think that the community can have more than 2500 questions in a few months (if enough contributors). This kind of projects, with their own infrastructure, are more complex than just some simple crypto coins built on another protocol.
Recently, I created a list of possible tags for the future of the Elrond proposal. And this is big, even if this project has a lot of things to build or improve: next Staking phases, NFTs, DEX, Launchpad, Swap, Lend, Synthetics, Stable coins, Bridges, etc.
The blockchain good projects are expanding and they will be bigger than we could imagine now.
So, I think that the strongest blockchain projects deserve their own site. It's easier now than splitting something later.
What you are seeing now is just the front runners who understand Cardano's potential even in its infancy. The people working on/with Cardano are creating the landscape for the people that will actually need this site for support. The community is getting a head start paving the way for the influx to come. You will notice more views and questions soon.
Build and they will come.
