Parrot's forums seem almost deserted, there are only a handful of recent questions and very few actual answers.

Is there some hidden AR Drone community out there somewhere?

Also, should a site be created specifically for Parrot's AR Drone, or is the topic of quadcopters in general a better concept?

Are you kidding? That's way too specific. I wouldn't expect that proposal to get more than 5 followers.

Quadcopters isn't much better. You need hundreds and eventually thousands of people to be using this site for it to be viable!

Even the general Electronic Gadgets site got closed. More specific proposals are possible; Android Enthusiasts, for example. But Android has a huge community behind it, with tons of people asking tons of questions on forums all over the internet. A community won't spontaneously appear if you propose a site — you need to have a large target audience to begin with.

Haha, I'm not kidding, I'm new. Like I said, I was looking for a community that could assist in some AR Drone troubles, and couldn't find any. So I thought, hmm, doesn't Stack Exchange have a place to suggest new Q&A community sites? I made an account and posted my idea. Didn't realize just how general the sites typically are; it looks like Robotics Research may be a better place for me to start.

  • @Poaters Alright, no worries. I think Robotics Research is too theoretical, unless that's what you're interested in. Theoretical and Applied Robotics mentions hobbyists specifically, so perhaps that's better; although the example questions seem somewhat construction-oriented. Sep 8 '11 at 20:51
