I have been playing a particular MUD since 2003, have logged over 15k hours doing so, and have been playing with the idea of building my own. The only issue is that there is limited information to be found on the creation and design of MUD programs.
For those unfamiliar with what a MUD is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD has more information on it. They are basically text-based RPG games. There is also a MUDConnect site with hundreds of different RPG's you can connect to and play.
There are some sites that provide sections of open sourced code but much of the building is done at the designer's discretion.
OLC seems to be the method of choice for creation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_creation) but again, variations are limitless.
And then there's suggestions on how to organize the information, coding in objects/mobs/rooms/exits/etc. and actions associated to them.
So with so many factors that are specific to this niche topic, is there a location already in the Stack community that exists for these kinds of questions, or should there be a page specific for it?
Is there enough interest in something like this (or even enough people who know about MUDs to begin with)?
