I hope this is a rhetoric question ;) I just want to announce the futurology proposal here, as both proposals would imo benefit from each other and future studies are often highly based on historical knowledge and developments. A future model is often tested by simulating past developments to verify basic assumptions and interactions of the underlying model. How do things evolove on time-scales of decades? What role played technological progress and politics in world wars? What models can explain historical developments where we have only little evidence how people lived in detail but know macroscopic developments like population growth/migrations. What are crucial system parameters. What are constants of World history, everlasting patterns? How does the "human factor" variate in different historical developments over centuries until our current highly networked system?
I think these type of questions are crucial for both proposals, so take a look if you are interested :)
