Proposals need “100 committers with 200+ rep on any other site”.

What exactly does this mean?

I am specifically asking because I’m closely monitoring the Bioinformatics proposal, which is currently standing at 97% (3 users with 200+ rep missing). While I was watching, a new user committed. This user has 200+ reputation on Stack Overflow (well over 1000, in fact). But the commitment percentage did not increase: this user was apparently not counted as having 200+ rep.

I was thinking this might be a one-off error, but then the same thing happened again with another user.

So: what counts as 200+ rep?

Ah, I should mention: this isn’t due to a delay in the counter update: I accidentally uncommitted (there should be a confirmation dialog!) from the proposal and re-committed, and the progress counter updated immediately. May 4, 2017 at 13:31

@FranckDernoncourt For what it’s worth the most recent committer (Juni) also has >1000 rep on Stack Overflow, and is also not counted in the 200+ rep users. This is very odd. May 4, 2017 at 15:51

    Caching. It's always caching.

200 rep on any Q&A site counts. Just 200 rep on Area 51 and not on any other site, doesn't count, mainly because experience with Q&A is what is needed and Area 51 isn't regular Q&A.

The count (97 users) seems to match the page sorted the users by reputation: the the first ten pages have users with >200 rep on a site, and one user on the eleventh page. However, four of these have >200 rep on Area 51 only, so they are not counted.

Edit: However, as Konrad Rudolph correctly points out in the comments, there are three users that actually have > 200 rep on SO, but the reputation doesn't show this. All three users are member since today on Area 51, I guess that the reputation takes a bit of time to update. However, I'd still consider it as a bug. I would expect that is is updated somewhere in the next 24 hours and the proposal should show (at least) 100 users with 200+ rep tomorrow.

  • Check the 11th page again: it contains three users (Juni, bedeabc, Aaron Statham) with > 200 rep on Stack Overflow, though their reputation on the page is (erroneously? I don’t know what it refers to …) shown as 151. So assuming that the rest of your calculation is correct, the proposal now actually has exactly 100 200+ rep users, not 97 as stated. @KonradRudolph You are right, this is indeed odd, although I suspect this is because the three users joined Area 51 today, I think this will be fixed tomorrow. This is a bug, but not a very important one, since we'll need to wait 1-3 weeks anyway, before the site will launch.

Let’s hope that’s it. I don’t mind waiting three weeks … I’ve been waiting for a bioinformatics SE for seven years. May 4, 2017 at 18:47
  • Yup, seems that was it. :-) 100% commitment. May 5, 2017 at 11:59
