Proposal: 3D Graphics, Modeling & Applications

Would it make any sense to change the title to "3D Graphics, Modeling and Animation"? Animation happens to be one of the most complex topics in this area, and one of the highly voted question ("What is rigging?") is not actually covered by the title of the site.

If there's a highly voted on topic proposed question that covers an area, then that area is on topic. Don't worry about the proposal title, as it can be changed at any time.

I'd like to worry about the title cause I'm hoping to get this site into beta. But thanks for the response. Commented Aug 22, 2011 at 18:28

Dori, several people have raised the issue of Animation - whilst it's definitely on-topic, it would also help to have it explicitly in the title (especially as we push for the last dozen people to reach beta), so can you rename the proposal to "3D Graphics, Modelling and Animation" ? Thanks. Commented Oct 25, 2011 at 17:14

I think that adding animation to the title might help. Any group I get involved with in this field seems to be well over 50% animators. Maybe appealing to them more directly would help uus reach critical mass.

  • Fine by me, but I can no longer change the title of the proposal - once it went to commitment phase, it was locked. It would require a moderator to change.

The original description of the site (well, latest edited version) was a full paragraph, which did include the topic of rigging, and several other topics. However, at some point, the site truncated the definition down to the current one-liner: Proposed Q&A site for 3D graphics creators.
