Proposal: Scratch

Scratch already has a forum at its home site, here.

What additional benefits would the existence of Scratch Stack Exchange provide to the Scratch community, that would more than offset the complexity added by dividing the community support structure across multiple locations?

(Note that I'm not arguing that we shouldn't have Scratch.SE; I just feel we should spend some time identifying how we envision the site adding value beyond the existing official forum.)

@Mithrandir Hm, maybe we can ask Robert Cartaino (sp?) to resurrect it?

What is the advantage of a SE over a traditional forum? SE's are more easily searchable, common questions are more easily resolved, and the best answers are shown before all the other answers.

Using an SE is more efficient, faster, and better than a forum (for solving problems). For non problems, like debate/discussion, or advertising projects, forums do a much better job.

If the Scratch team would help support this site, then, they could phase out their help forum in favor of the superior SE all while keeping . their forums for discussion.
