I've clicked around a bit as I do when I try to get the feel of a site, and apart from several broken links in the Users section I came across this guy:

https://area51.meta.stackexchange.com/users/121655/nicolas-chabanovsky

He's a moderator that left little trace of his activities. Makes me curious?

Nicolas Chabanovsky is a community manager @ Stack Overflow, so he is an employee. It seems his focus is on the Russian Stack Overflow site.

He carries a network-wide diamond in his position as CM.

  • So its an orphan profile... – Bookeater Apr 10 '17 at 16:02
  • How do you mean? He is just a regular user. – Patrick Hofman Apr 10 '17 at 16:06
  • discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/users/121655/… points to an isolated&empty profile. – Bookeater Apr 10 '17 at 16:23

It's just a profile without any activity. Nothing odd or out of place about it; I've got them all over the network. Calling it orphaned or isolated or empty suggests some sort of problem where there is none. – Robert Cartaino Apr 10 '17 at 18:07
  • Indeed, as Robert says. That he isn't active here means nothing. – Patrick Hofman Apr 10 '17 at 18:08
  • @Robert Cartaino, it indeed says... nothing. No activity, no description, no related accounts listed yet a moderator role. I was under the impression that SO discouraged multiple unrelated profiles for a single person. Yet here it is. – Bookeater Apr 10 '17 at 21:26
  • No. That is not true. There is no problem with having multiple accounts as long as they don't interfere with each other. – Patrick Hofman Apr 11 '17 at 5:27
  • @Bookeater clarify multiple accounts please. I only see links to the user 121655 account on Area51 for this person. Also I think you might be missing a piece of the puzzle. an employee of SO automatically has the moderator role on all sites they visit. – James Jenkins Apr 11 '17 at 17:43
  • @James Jenkins I've added a screen-shot of the empty orphan profile. NOTHING here shows 'SO employee' OR points to the inhabited Russian profile. – Bookeater Apr 12 '17 at 15:54
  • Why should it...? – Patrick Hofman Apr 12 '17 at 16:00
  • Unfortunately Area51 does not keep up with the advancements of other sites, and some things are just "knownn" All moderators on Area51 are SE employees. When I went looking though I found that @Bookeater is correct the the user profile is an broken orphan. Checking his network profile indicates the correct Area51 Profile is area51.stackexchange.com/users/48390/nicolas-chabanovsky Notice user 48390 vs user 121655 – James Jenkins Apr 12 '17 at 16:11
  • @James Jenkins thanks. I do wonder how this came about. I'd also like it to be cleaned. How do I ask...? Apart from the stack above? – Bookeater Apr 12 '17 at 16:30
  • @Bookeater you have already done everything you can. I doubt it will be addressed. If there are any edits with the orphan account, cleaning it up could be a pain. The orphan has not logged on since March of 2015, the correct account logged on last May of 2016. An update to Area51 is always on the horizon which would fix whatever is broken now. – James Jenkins Apr 12 '17 at 16:52
  • @James Jenkins oh dear. This is the only profile under the SO Area51 launcher site users->moderators tab. Such a careless 1st impression. – Bookeater Apr 12 '17 at 20:23

I still don't see anything of concern. I can vouch for Nick's credentials and and his moderator access to these sites. If you feel some further administrative action must be taken, please use the 'contact us' link at the bottom of the site and explain what you feel must be done. I do not have that kind of access. – Robert Cartaino Apr 12 '17 at 20:39
