Once this site graduates to beta, will there be a specific section for creating "how-to" guides on how to go vegan or a section for "resources on benefits of going vegan"? Or should we create a question ourselves and answer it ourselves?

I would like to provide people the resources and information I've gathered on being vegan in one place.

Proposal: Veganism & Vegetarianism

  • Hang on to your question until the site is actually launched. I can appreciate your enthusiasm for getting started on the broader administrative challenges of running this site, but it is best to save these questions for the folks who are going to be actively using this site in actual practice. Area 51 is for questions about getting the proposal launched. Sorry about the confusion. Jan 26, 2017 at 15:09

There's no problem in asking and answering your own question. The thing is that most users probably arrive here from Google when asking questions so a sort of separate wiki is not as useful as separate questions. The guys at Stack Overflow are actually experimenting with creating documentation (https://stackoverflow.com/documentation) that is slightly different than questions but is still community created and curated, but I think that's only available there.

If you do create your own questions and answer them, be ready for people to give answers that might be better than yours. Also be ready to access that your question might not be interesting. If you just cram a ton of information in a question and answer it will be confusing and too broad. It might even be closed for not being a good question.

One easy way to gather all "documentation" will be to create a documentation tag. That way all questions asking for reading material can be grouped together.

  • Thanks! I'll look into creating a documentation tag
