Proposal: Agriculture & Farming

Well... Ag&F has now been proposed for 29 days. So far, we have 9 followers. Not impressive, you say? I agree. Unfortunately. How can we promote this site? From time to time, I'll drop by an SE chat and drop a link, but 9 followers... Friends, we can do better!

What other methods can we use to promote Ag&F? Spit out your ideas! I promise to vote up anything reasonable. I don't promise to do it the day of, but I will vote up. :)

Create Community Ads on relevant other sites like this one for the literature.se on English.se. Appropriate SE sites could be gardening, sustainable living, anything to do with cooking, plants or animals really. Just spread the word.

This isn't an original answer, so there's no need to upvote, but it didn't work as a comment, so I put it here!

I noticed you put a link to this proposal in the chat room at Gardening and Landscaping. I spend a lot of time on that site, and can tell you that was a smart move! That's how I found you! The room isn't always busy, but there's a good cross-section of people, including some that are into bigger scale agriculture than is allowed on the site.

I would recommend doing the same in the chat room at The Great Outdoors. The room is always busy with people who are really sweet, love the site, and understand what sites have to go through as they build. TGO is a good audience in general, as your proposal is all about things that take place outside. I really think there are some people there that would come over and have a look.

  • thanks for the feedback. Wasn't sure if dropping a link like that would be unwelcome spam or something. :) Glad to see you onboard! I happen to know how well you employ your power of upvoting from mech.SE. :)

  • Now that I think about it, you might be right about the spamming thing. I don't know the ethics of that. I'll drop a note to my friends in there just to let them know about this proposal. That way I'll know you didn't do anything wrong, especially at my request! Thanks for your support of my voting. I've been slacking off - should get back over there soon! Good luck with this. I hope I'll have something to contribute. Dec 9, 2016 at 1:28

Everyone has something to contribute. Agriculture is a broad enough topic that anyone can ask a legitimate question about it. I was talking in chat with Paulster2 recently, and he had some great questions himself... I wish I could convince him to jump on too. :)

I didn't know that you already tried this in 2016 :)

This is the last attempt I did: https://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/127654/agriculture/127658#127658

I think the answer is to have a bigger community, because the conversion rate from initial enthusiasm to actually signing up on area51 is quite poor. Apparently signing up there is prohibitively difficult for most farmers in the communities of the influencers I asked to help.

For some examples of instructions I did for my community.
