Proposal: Sitecore

How did this proposal get all the way through commitment in just a month and a half, when others take almost two years?

Sitecore community evangelists promoted the site on Slack, Twitter, to colleagues and friends and at public Sitecore user groups. There is a strong desire in the community to make this site proposal happen.

Our Slack community has over 1.100 members now, with an average of 200 online at any given time (European and US timezones); and the global certified developer base is around... I don't even know - 15.000 or so. Maybe more.

  • A few updates; the official Sitecore Community Site has 10.000 members registered over the past 12-14 months. Estimated certified developer count is around 11.000 over the past 4 years. Sep 8, 2016 at 12:48
  • Indeed. We actively promoted the Sitecore StackExchange site. There is an active community on community.sitecore.net as well, but we think StackExchange might more developers/people then using the "internal hosted community"

  • Aye, in addition, the requirement of having 100 200+ Rep users is also actually really hard to get if your members only use the sites for browsing and don't actually participate. I'm guilty of that (hence my rep score) on Stack Overflow. So, I've committed to being way more active on the new Stack Exchange site. Plus our subject material that we discuss changes often and frequently, which allows new questions to old problems to crop up. Makes for fielding an actual community very achievable. Besides, who doesn't love Sitecore?!?!?!?! #Sitecore4Lyfe Sep 8, 2016 at 13:40

As can be seen; we attempted this in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014, but didn't have a strong enough community to make it through the initial phases. Now we do. Sep 8, 2016 at 15:00
  • We also have about 1800 members on the facebook group who were crucial for the signups.
