There are lots of developers from so many different countries, I am one of them from Gujarat, India.

I would like to propose for Gujarati Language which can be allow in chat groups. As I am developer from small village of Gujarat, India. I failed in English and don't know much more about grammers too. If I have question and I want to ask to my Gujarati Friends who are unknown for me but they are eager to help me. I think it will be better to get quick solution.

We have created and awesomely handled The Great Gujarati Android Developers Ever ! group but unfortunately usage of Gujarati language it's frozen.

We had discussed How can we support languages other than English in Stack Overflow's chat… And should we?, there are so many developers wants same that allowance of native language but moderators do talks for english only.

I request to have one community for native developers also which is sub part of stackoverflow.com like http://gujarati.stackoverflow.com.

or

You can simply allow to do chat in Gujarati or any native languages.

Would it be possible?

Hope it will be helpful to all native developers. Thank you.

I think you should keep the discussion to Meta.Stackoverflow and the thread thats open there. This is essentially the same as your answer and many other answers to that question, none of which were recieved well. And, Area 51 isn't really for chatrooms.

How would this solve the moderation problem which was the main point of concern of the moderators on Stack Overflow? By making this proposal there don't suddenly spawn moderators in every conceivable language to moderate all the chatrooms.

  • I am not talking about chatrooms only, I would like to have gujarati.stackoverflow.com also as per native languages. May 31, 2016 at 9:04

@PratikButani A subsite for more languages has been discussed and rejected several times. To make that work Stackexchange would have to hire a community manager that speaks that. The benefit of such a thing doesn't nearly justify the cost.

@PratikButani Then we will have so many stackoverflows! Your post doesn't make sense. Then there will be hindi.SE, kannada.SE, etc etc. It is not possible to make so many websites. Do you realize how much effort it will take? May 31, 2016 at 9:06
  • Better than this would be taking liaison as mentioned by Shog9. IMO.

  • @PratikButani If you really want to ask this, you should ask this as a feature-request on meta.stackoverflow.com

This proposal will not work, for several reasons. As mentioned by Ashish and magisch in the comments, it would take a huge amount of money to cover all conceivable languages spoken on Earth (including Klingon). You'd need to find a moderator for each language and pay him/her solely to moderate your chatroom (or full Stack Exchange site).

The original Stack Overflow meta post by Shog9 raised a few interesting topics, of which the main one was summarised nicely by The Lost Mind's answer in my opinion: we need a moderator in that language. Whether or not you think a chat room/SE site does not need moderator intervention is rather irrelevant. People flagged the Gujarati Android room and no moderator could determine what was being said so they did the only thing they could do: freeze the room and force everyone back to English.

TL;DR it's too expensive to cover all languages and is not going to happen.
