I'd like to highlight that I2P network is on-topic at Deep Web and it's already in private beta at:

http://deepweb.stackexchange.com/

To access the site just go to the proposal page and follow the link (click on Visit), then you'll be able to register a new account.

The site has over 400 users and has at least 10 questions related to I2P which needs some high quality answers, and many other questions related to different overlay networks such as FreeNet, Zeronet, and many more, so it would be great if we can join the effort to make the private beta survive instead of creating brand new proposal which has less changes than the Deep Web have (in terms of the scope), because The Deep Web site includes all the overlay networks and it's still struggling to achieve its healthy activity. When the private Web Deep beta will fail and we did everything what he could to make it work, then I2P proposal would be still good to keep.

    This i2p proposal also came out of the Monero proposal, which is at commitment stage. Given the overlap we'd also appreciate any from the Deep Web SE who could commit: area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/98617/monero

  • Officially that the community haven't demonstrated the ultimate purpose of this site. Practically - the site didn't have enough user activity, not good quality of the questions, too many hypothetical and Tor specific questions. You can check your-self by clicking on the Visit! button. I think it's worth that you can see it, to avoid similar mistakes.

I agree that there is some overlap, but in a very real way it's like saying that the Raspberry Pi Stack shouldn't exist because the SuperUser Stack already has 1728 Raspberry Pi questions;)

I think that there might be scope for both I2P and Tor Stacks to be rolled into Deep Web later on, but for the moment there's enough distinction that the I2P Stack can stand on its own. The community desperately needs more clearnet, accessible resources if it's ever going to grow larger.

    I agree with fluffyponyza. I think it is worthwhile to have a separate StackExchange site for I2P rather than lumping all anonymous networks into one site.
