Proposal: Wine

With the current scope:

Proposed Q&A site for seasoned oenophiles & viticulturists to those who have newly discovered the world of wine.

Has already a corresponding tag wine (with 135 questions and 25 followers at this moment) in:

Homebrewing (Beer, Wine, etc.)

I.e. the part of viticulture is covered in this proposal.

So perhaps the current proposal could be more closely related to the oenophilia part (wine aficionados), as the Beer proposal has done before.

Does homebrewing allow questions about wine pairing, and the other non-brewing aspects of wine? If so, the name is heavily misleading. I don't know about most people, but if I have a question about wine, homebrewing is the last place I would think to ask, unless I was trying to make my own.

@Flimzy that is why I suggested dividing the proposal's scope (please read the last paragraph): viticulture is already fully present in the Homebrewing proposal, oenophilia and topics as wine pairing could create a different website like the Beer proposal achieved.

I like the idea of the proposal because I enjoy wine. The current quantity of traffic and followers in Homebrewing certainly would not be enough to support a dedicated site.

I think one of the keys to success is understanding what current SE traffic might look like to support the site as well as how the site would attract traffic once it is in Beta.

I do not believe that homebrewing covers the landscape of wine. The vineyards, regions and types of wine seem to go against the scope of homebrewing as well as what was mentioned prior, pairings and such.

I would follow it but would be concerned about how to attract users initially.
