While there are many moments in history that are under political and social debate, most major events in history are generally agreed upon by historians from different countries, especially in the Western world.

Programmers fight all day about various casing preferences, coding ideologies, and agile beliefs, yet Programming subjects are Stack Exchange's most valuable sites.

Generally the crowd of noobs and experts should be able to sniff out history that is not accepted by the mainstream and will downvote accordingly.

So I don't think there will be much trouble.
