Proposal: Vi and vim

Could we discuss some of the issues related to the current version of vim, especially the unpleasant parts apropos its plugin API, and how it could be improved? I am aware that neovim is a project meant to rectify this issue. I am interested in knowing how neovim, or other similar projects, can or has improved upon the current design/architecture of vim?

Stack Exchange works really well for technical support issues and problem solving, but we do not generally allow project teams to outsource their entire customer support channel to Stack Exchange.

Those teams would have to provide other channels to handle issues like customer complaints, feedback, feature suggestions, bug reports, future direction & road map discussion, and many other "customer support" issues which are better left to threaded discussions forums. They are not a good fit for a Stack Exchange-style Q&A.
