I'm just curious:

What happened on january 1st on the Engineering proposal? There's a sudden spike that day with tens of people committing, ultimately reaching 100% commitment a few days later and ending the commitment phase.

Was there an anouncement on another site or something? Were 2 proposals merged?

Proposal: Engineering

Someone linked to the proposal on the engineering subreddit. That's how I found out about it.

They're seriously lucky Reddit didn't remove that post. That kind of post is usually considered spam. I tried doing the same for Health, and they removed the post as being spam. :-( – Jez Jan 7 '15 at 23:25

That type of stuff is really up to the subreddit. I've never seen that many complaints about the mods on /r/engineering, and I don't think they're worried about an Engineering StackExchange stealing users, there's some overlap in content but they're definitely distinct sites. – tarchibald Jan 8 '15 at 4:00

It's really unlucky for us at Health.SE. Their health Subreddit is moderated by people who refuse to allow links to here. :-( They have 100,000 subscribers over there!! – Jez Jan 8 '15 at 18:35

@Jez Where is Health.SE? The closest I find in SE search, or in your profile, is fitness.stackexchange.com Do you mean the Health proposal: area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/66048/health ? – Qsigma Jan 9 '15 at 9:34

Yes I do mean the Health proposal. – Jez Jan 9 '15 at 10:09

This is a common occurrence, when a proposal gets close to 200 a bunch of people jump on. Most of them don't actually do anything at beta launch...

Actually - since one can commit to only three proposals at a time, I tend to commit to proposals that are close to beta, then follow up with fulfilling the commitment ASAP, so that the 'commitment slot' isn't locked up for many months awaiting beta. – SF. Jan 17 '15 at 1:44
