This is just an example but it seems to hold true across other sites. The Area51 page for pets says it is getting 4,644 visits per day. But looking at New questions most are showing less then 100 views. One has 2k views, but if there were really 4K plus visitors per day to the site, there should be much more than 78 awards for a question with 2,500 views.

Where does the BETA visits per day come from? How does it get so high without question views rising similarly?

  • You can visit a site without looking at one particular question, e.g., just displaying the list of active questions or the questions belonging to some tag.
