Still unclear to me. So, what is the reason behind this comment?

@d'alar'cop Let me put this bluntly. What's stopping us is that if we make the PPCG-style decision, Puzzling will fail out of beta and the site will be closed - and not by "moderators." It is not a choice we're allowed to make. If the site does die (and I'm confident it won't), then the end result is the same: the site is closed. – Emrakul♦

That comment was 42 minutes ago, the answer from the community director came in about 23 minutes ago, so I guess that supersedes

We just need (IMO) to get a definitive answer from SE management. Let's give them a little time to work it out.

  • I guess that's definitive, what higher than a director :)

  • @skv Even if it is, what the hell happened here? Commented Dec 3, 2014 at 17:44

@Victor moderators are just people like you and me guided by their own wisdom, they felt since there was nothing solid from the Community team they felt they were doing the right thing so I salute them for the bold decision, but now that there is a "decision" from community team (from such high level) the matter is closed

  • @skv If the moderators do suicidal bold dictatorship decisions against the wishes of the community, I don't think that they are being good moderators after all. If I did something similar to what happened here in my workplace I would surely been fired. Commented Dec 3, 2014 at 17:54

@Victor how do they know that they are agaist... read the comment from Robert he clearly says mods were going by the routine assumption to be fair they were doing their job as per their understanding

I think just closing this down straight away is a bit rash - if nothing else, there's quite a good bit of discussion on the hot meta topics of the moment.

Discussion on how to refine the aims of the site can be referenced back on to Meta.P.SE if that comes back as "the" puzzling Stack, and we know that everything here is from people who are active and interested in the community.

I hope that you are right, but I think that is still too early to conclude that this proposal is dead. Lets wait a few days and see how the things evolve.

Yes, I suspect we're not in the clear yet... we've felt safe in the past and this thing keeps coming up and getting worse really... it's a civil war
