Proposal: Arts and Crafts
This site proposal needs 7 more questions with minimum 10 votes to move to the next phase and to prevent itself from dying.
*I request the Followers (people) to exercise their right to vote on the questions which they think are constructive and on topic and at the same time have **less than 10 votes.
I suggest everyone to use their facebook, twitter etc. contacts to "spread the word". Also you can use your stackoverflow profile to "advertise" about this site. (Like I have done.)
Please do your best so that the site doesn't get closed this time!

This tells me that some people here don't know the history of this site proposal and/or workings of the Area51.
So, here's an enlightenment:
Long before I created this site proposal there were following two separate proposals running parallely:
- Drawing and Painting.
- Crafts.
Both of them had been there for 1 year. Both of them had nearly 75 followers. Both of them had some 20 more questions waiting to get 10 upvotes.
And at the end of 1 year both of them got closed because of the pending 20 questions which didn't have 10 upvotes.
So, is there anyone here who thinks that those sites didn't have even 20 questions which were worth upvoting? Say yes and your voice will fall on deaf ears.
No, I am not being aggressive here.
The real problem here is that many people following the site proposals aren't very well educated about how Area51 works. They don't know that simply clicking the follow button will not automatically get the site going. There is a lot of text on the front page of the site proposal, and the real information is sidelined in a somewhat fine print on a box on the right side.
We all know that people usually don't read the FAQ FIRST. They just follow their instincts and the IMO first instinct is to upvote the question with the highest votes because obviously that's a great question.
What they don't know is that they have a ONLY 5 votes which they can spend to make the site move on.
What they don't know is that until and unless the site has 40 questions each with minimum 10 upvotes the site just will NOT move on, and get closed after a certain period of time.
What they don't know is that the site doesn't send any mail notifications about the progress or the lack of it to the followers. i.e. If a site gets closed during or before the commitment stage, no mail notification gets sent to the followers. So, until you daily refresh the main page here you won't know what's happening.
So, after the Drawing and Painting site proposal got closed, we added the drawing and painting category in the Crafts site proposal. but it was too late, and the Crafts proposal also got closed after 1 month.
At that time, I, singlehandedly wrote a comment below each question of the Crafts proposal in order to notify people about the closure and the creation of this new site proposal. So, we have already lost 80 people of the Drawing site proposal since it got closed earlier and then got deleted - so there is no way of contacting those people now to let them know about the latest developments.
Period.
So, while it is very nice to keep on upvoting the questions which already have 10 votes, but I just want the people to get AWARE that in order to get the site the move on, they need to scroll past the top voted questions and spend their votes on the questions which they think would be on-topic here and have lesser than 10 votes.
So, I am not urging the people to do tactical voting, I just want them to be aware of the above mentioned fact.
Now, if there are people who know this fact and still they wish to upvote the questions which have 10 votes - I RESPECT their wishes, unconditionally.
