Proposal: Korean Language and Usage

I'm not a speaker of Korean, but I'd love to be, so I'm naturally very excited for this proposal. I linked the Stack Exchange proposal onto the /r/Korean sub last night, and I'd like to think that the spike in followers is due somewhat to that.
Would it be appropriate to advertise the Korean Language proposal on other known high-quality Korean Language forums/sites?

There is no problem on the SE side doing this. However, you should rather consider whether it is appropriate to do so on their site. I think it would be polite to do so being a member of that community and being able to evaluate whether it would be appropriate for you to forward people from there community to this one. For Reddit, that makes perfect sense. For some online communities the administration may not take kindly to directing their users off site.

So, if you feel it's appropriate on their site, absolutely. Do so.

I just thought about a potential option from your question. We could also market from within SE as well! I went to search the Meta for any rules about this before I wrote them a note. Seems it is already being done.

Check this out!

Also, put the link to the proposal in your profile!!!

It may also be a good idea to scout English Language Learners. While not everyone is a native Korean speaker, some are going to this community for help with English.

Sorry if you all are already familiar with this but I am new and still becoming acclimated to SE.

Depending how invested in the idea you are, most universities have an international department. Some even have a language exchange department like The University of Texas @ Austin's PALS Program or The University of Washington @ Seattle's FIUTS Program are two examples.

Social websites such as Facebook have community groups and also a Facebook fan page promoting this community with class and style. Facebook is all about advertisement anyway.

There are a multitude of ways to market this!

  • These are all good ideas, especially if you're a part of these communities. Don't forget there are incentives on Area 51 for promoting a proposal, so don't forget to use your Share link! Jan 3, 2015 at 3:39

I'm personally very excited for this Korean proposal although I'm still a bit new to SE. But I was just wondering if during this commitment stage are we allowed to ask questions about the Korean language? I was also wondering if there was any way I could help because the only thing I know so far is how to answer to a discussion question (like I'm doing right now).

Yes, totally. This is dead without users.
