How questions about an already created world should reference such world?

Question

I am wondering how we could ease the attachment of documentation/references of an already existing world. Let's take as an example this question :

• Where should I put roads in this country to make it realistic and logical in my world?

=> We would need a visual/written description of that country, a description of the setting of the world, and more precisely of the country etc... This could be a lot of text, which should not be added in the question's body if it's too long.

So how could we allow an easy referencing of a world's existing resources to avoid asking 10 times in comments for more information about x and y, and reducing the amount of text in the question?

My thoughts :

• We could ask for a wiki referencing the relevant parts

• A link to a zip download link for the resources etc...

I think this needs to be defined before hand so that we avoid repeating the same demands for questions like this.

I think this should be decided emergently, as actual challenges appear (like tagging policies). Right now it's too speculative for effective policy-making. That said, it probably wouldn't hurt to do some brainstorming on possible solutions! We just shouldn't pick one before we have a problem it's a solution to.

I don't think we need to define what type of content is linked, though my order of preference would be to an off site blog or set of text primarily (people don't always like downloading strange things off the web). I think its more important that we define where and how it is presented.

Or would a more general answer be appropriate? Instead of asking about how to place roads on your world, maybe asking about the general principals of how roads are laid out...or even how road develop?

Granted this question might be to broad as stated, because I guessing that how roads are laid out in a modern world is probably very different then how roads are laid out in an ancient or medieval setting.

I feel that this question can be of more use as it could provide information for a greater audience.
