Yesterday I committed to a proposal which required entering my email address. As I entered another email address than the one I used for stackexchange, it created a new account instead of linking it to the existing one. Since then I wasn't able to link the new account to my (already registered) OpenId-Profile which should have merged them automatically.

So the question is: Can we please merge http://area51.stackexchange.com/users/106920/michel-bretschneider into the older http://area51.stackexchange.com/users/33438/mbx ?

  • for those curious how long such requests usually take: mine was finished within less than a day

To merge accounts, click on the 'contact us' link below and follow the procedure outlined there. Thanks.

  • Is it still the proper way to go ? the contact us link redirect to area51.meta contact us which doesn't allow sending a merge account request.

  • @Tensibai I'm not seeing this. Can you link to the page where the 'contact' link does not go where you expect? This is still the way to go.

  • @Tensibai I'm still not seeing the problem. Clicking on the 'contact us' link sends me to a page with a heading, "What can I help you with?" where you can then select "I need to merge a user profile."

  • Yes, but when you try to submit the request, the reason has a red border with a tolltip saying something like 'You can't require a merge account from meta, do it from main'. Should I open a Question about it to include screenshots (maybe it would be easier) ?

    @Tensibai Okay, I see. I'm not certain Area 51 main is connected directly to our help system ('discussion' is connected, but Area 51 proper uses older software from long ago). You may need to go through meta's contact-us page and explain what you would like to do manually.
