Proposal: Joomla

While Joomla users are going to know what Joomla is, a lot of other people (especially Stack Exchange users) are going to stumble on the site. The tagline for the site should give enough context for people to know whether they want to learn more about Joomla.

Something like:

Proposed Q&A site for administrators, end users, developers and designers for the Joomla!™ open-source content management system.

I see what you mean however I don't think it would be really necessary (just my opinion). Purely due to the fact that the people going on the site to ask questions will obviously know what Joomla is, considering they have chosen to use it. There is also no text on the current Wordpress, Magento or Drupal Stack Exchange sites

  • Is it "really necessary"? No, merely an improvement. Commented Apr 13, 2014 at 11:46

Will people who come to the site because they are Joomla users know what Joomla is? Yes, but this will help other people who come to the site because they followed a link, or because of a "Hot Network Question", etc. Part of UX design is thinking about the people who aren't exactly like you. • Do two wrongs make a right? No. Here's an opportunity to be better than the other sites. Commented Apr 13, 2014 at 11:48
  • I'm afraid I disagree with you Oddthinking. If people don't know what Joomla is, they really don't need to find the QnA. The QnA is supposed to be a resource for answering specific questions about Joomla. If people search google for content management systems they will find a list that they can use to further their research.

  • If I were to change the proposal tag, I'd probably make it "Proposed Q&A site for administrators, end users, developers and designers of all things Joomla!™ "

I agree. "Joomla!™ platform" is not the best choice.

There are debates around what we should call Joomla!, because it has CMS and Framework. Does this site will be for both or only for CMS? If for both then may be we can call it "for the Joomla!™ project"?

Indeed there are a few debates however we all know they are both very different things. I would think simply calling it "Joomla!" would suffice for "joomla.stackexchange.com" :)

  • @Lodder I agree. One Joomla to rule them all.

Anyway we will be on the beta stage (this will be really soon) we can discuss how to name the page. Something like "Q&A for Joomla!™ administrators, end users, developers and designers". Commented Apr 17, 2014 at 5:50
  • @DmitryRekun Looking forward to it!
