Are broadshot questions appropriate?

Proposal: Economics

This question applies to all SE proposals, not just economics.

I think this question is a good one, but lends itself to quite a broad kind of answer - ie one that lists an overview of several different uses of economics in different contexts.

IMO this would be a perfectly good and informative question and answer.

However, some would probably disagree and argue that it's 'too broad'.

So are these general summary questions appropriate? Or do agree that this specific question this is a summary question/answer?

This question is good in that, each answer could provide an example until a single community wiki answer could be compiled. I'd support it.

As an academic economist, I would support such a question. Helping non-specialists to understand the range of applications for the discipline (i.e. economics is not just about interest rates and stock pricing) is an important part of developing broader economic awareness.
