I have noticed that when you access the site using the HTTPS link to the site (https://area51.stackexchange.com) that it doesn't render properly, like its missing a reference to CSS or just missing the file completely.

  • Not an exact duplicate, but another similar question was closed as a duplicate pointing to that and the general issue is that Area 51 doesn't have full HTTPS support.

  • It is not a duplicate of that, I am not concerned with the OpenID since I log into StackExchange, all the sites log me in automatically. The site is missing full HTTPS support. All other SE sites have full HTTPS functionality and everything looks and loads right, its only Area 51 that doesn't. The discuss (meta) of Area 51 (discuss.area51.stackexchange.com) loads perfectly, just not the main site. Mar 21 '14 at 16:17

We do not support HTTPS yet, we are working on performance problems associated with it before it is enabled. We do not link you to this anywhere yet, for a reason.

If you use https://area51.stackexchange.com then be prepared for breaks until we're ready.

  • A bit of a harsh reply. Sorry Nick meant no offense, I was simply pointing to an observation, figured sites want to get feedback. Many sites don't specifically link you to it, but its available for any number of reasons. I am using the HTTP so as to not have the break. Mar 21 '14 at 16:36
  • @GµårÐïåñ apologies if it seems harsh...we've answered this about 50 times now and we no longer write long replies Mar 21 '14 at 16:36
  • Nick, I didn't see it 50 times or I wouldn't have posted it. Short reply wasn't the issue, just the quip about "breaks until we are ready" wasn't necessary, just a courteous statement of facts such as "We are aware, its not implemented yet due to performance concerns, use HTTP for the time being" would have sufficed. Again thanks for the answer. Mar 21 '14 at 16:43

Is that a quip, @GµårÐïåñ? Doesn't read like one to me. Reads like a simple statement of fact. Mar 21 '14 at 18:00
  • @TRiGisTimothyRichardGreen, you are entitled to how you read it but the tone is clear. Mar 22 '14 at 5:21
