I am wondering how to remove a commitment of a site that has gone into private beta - unlike what was discussed in Stuck with a commitment of a closed Private Beta, the private beta is up and running, but I am deleting my account(*) from there, thus need my commitment also remove.

(*) I do not want to get into the why I am deleting my account there, as it is irrelevant to my question (I misunderstood the purpose of the site).

It's by design. Because your commitment was counted to the threashold required to launch the site, you are expected to treat it seriously. If you fail to fulfill your commitment, you're punished with blocking your commitment for 6 months.

If removing a commitment from a private beta would be possible, there would be nothing to stop sympathy commits made in order to launch beta, but without intention to contribute to the site. Which in end effect would actually harm such sites, not help them.

  • I am not sure what you mean by "blocking your commitment for 6 months" - and I was most definitely serious about the site, but it has become clear that I was in error about its purpose

  • @Helios The commitment will fail after 6 months, if not fulfilled before. Than you can use it to commit to other proposal. Mar 14, 2014 at 19:21
