Proposal: Moderators

Most site names here are worded as a general topic, not the people who practice it. For example, there's a site called "Aviation," not "Pilots." (I've found that the only exception to that rule is the "Android Enthusiasts" site.)

Plus, people will get the misconception that this is related to Stack Exchange moderation or that this is some kind of Stack Overflow-/Stack Exchange-moderators-only site where only 10kers or people who fall into that category get to talk.

Why can't it be named Moderation instead? The consensus in the related question is that the word itself will be kept, but it doesn't look like anyone's ever thought about changing how it should be said.

Moderation may be misleading since the actual definition of moderation is "The avoidance of excess or extremes, especially in one's behavior or political opinions". Of course moderators themselves express moderation, but moderation also applies to many other aspects life not covered in this SE. Moderators is much more clear about what the site is about.

Well um, I wouldn't really agree on the single word "Moderators" (or even "Moderation") in being very clear on the site's real purpose. My first thought, if I saw the site, would be if this was some kind of successor to Meta.

@oldmud0 if you don't like the alternative you proposed then why did you suggest it? Choosing between the two Moderators wins hands down. Besides any community site has moderators. The term moderators doesn't just apply to SE.

  • I think 'Staffers' would be a much better name...
