The intention of this proposal is to cover the mechanisms of all kinds of operating systems, from OS such as Mac OS, Linux, Windows to RTOS such as vxWorks, LynxOS, FreeRTOS, QNX etc… specifically using these as a base and building bigger architectures and more advance mechanisms for specific applications.

What is not the intention of this proposal is anything covered in Super User such as tutorials on how to use control panel to configure the pc, administrator type of controls or anything else they tend to cover in that forum.

  • Okay, Very interesting. Sounds like a great proposal and I will be honored to support it! – JVarhol Jan 22 '14 at 15:56

This proposal is about operating system design. “How do I install/customize/program on/…” Windows/Linux/OSX/… is off-topic there.

Windows and OSX aren't likely to come up in questions because they are designed internally in a company. They might come up more often in answers as examples of how to design this or that feature. Linux and Minix are more likely subjects since there many operating systems based on those projects. I expect that the bulk of the questions will be on general operating system design or about OSes other than the main OSes of PCs (e.g. RTOS).
