Proposal: Software Recommendations

Just has this idea, it can be good for this website if there can be a way to enforce comparison tables as part of an answer to a question. In this way, the recommendations could be more objective.

  • @Dozer789 not like a chart, but more like a simple table that has a column for the recommended software name, a column for the advantages, and a column for the disadvantages.

The name of the proposed site is Software Recommendations not Software Comparisons.

While it would be most welcome to have answers that contain some justification of their recommendation it would be unnecessarily draconian to force the use of a comparison table.

Furthermore, there will very probably be some questions for which there may only be one piece of software available. We do not want to artificially restrict such answers.

I disagree. You can easily add structure to an answer using mark down if such comparison is appropriate for an answer. On the other side, some questions might require answers in a different structure.

Finally, I doubt that the stack exchange administration would allow such a Q&Table system with stack exhange explicitly being a Q&A platform.
